Still miss you an awful lot, Joe
Been thinking about Lommel and your last crime scene with aluminum ducks lying on thier backs...little webbed feet in the air. The rope instead of your standard yellow police tape and a crime scene sign made from a cereal box and Nutella.
It was amazing how many real ducks came to the sliding glass doors each morning and evening in Center Parcs. Of course, your comments were the best. "Don't feed them all the good bread, Suzanne, or you'll be crying when the mother duck and the babies come". Loved it when they didn't like the cereal and you said the mother duck gave me the "dirty eye". Then there was the morning the mother duck actually tapped on the window and you so quickly observed that "it couldn't have anything to do with the cereal box just inside the door".
You left way too soon. I was really looking forward to seeing you in Harrison. Say "Hi" to Marc for me.

Journey's around the Sun
My remaining journey's around the sun will be a little dimmer with your passing. Thanks for the smiles, giggles and laughs you crazy man from the islands. You will be missed.
88 Joe
If the afterlife is the way I think it is, then you know what I think already... And for the living, I think he was a special one! I will not forget how loudly we were laughing while it rained extremely hard and we could not continue our work. he suggested we could make the tops of other mountains flat in advance. But doing this while it was raining so hard could only make us laugh loudly...
Thanks
Your life was really like a sand sculpture
Surprising and overwhelming with your jokes at every moment in every part of you.
Vanishing too soon only leaving behind nice stories and memories.
Joe, Thank you for being in my life as a beautiful reminiscence!
Fan of Sand
Never met you, but would like to say, "Selamat Tinggal" (So Long) to another Sand Fan and may life in Sand Heaven be all that you ever wished for as Harrison Hot Springs Sand is The Place for Sand People.

I GOING MISS YOU BUT I WON'T FORGET YOU!!!
I first met Joe July1980 on the beach where he was playing in the sand like he did, with his hat out. There wasn't very many paying sand jobs back then. I was a grade 12 grad and we had gone for vacation. The big contest in WhiteRock had just started so when we met Joe on the beach building sand castles we asked if he would like to come up to Canada the next year and we would give it a go. The next year Joe came a week before and had me take him all over town picking thing and getting things ready for the event or should I say party. I rember Joe got Moose Mcgillycuddy's as a sponsor we made the news for them everbody had a great time. Oh ya we got 2nd place not bad for some beginers Ah. In the first 4 years at White Rock we took 2nd,2nd,1st,2nd. For years to come the party got bigger Joe had meet some people from the seattle area. Charlie and more and more people got involved and the teams grew and different events started, Jobs for sand sculpture work started to happen, Parksville come and went Harrision was born, Parkville came back. Joe was always a crowd pleaser he would always spend time with the kids.
I especally rember 1986 in Parkville Joes sister Jackie was susposed to come to the event..... it was just before the contest was about to begin and we had not heard from her and had no way to know where she was (no cell phone way back then) and just as the contest started she showed up all decked out in belly dancing outfit (she looked great) I have no idea what place we took but Jackie and Joe got front page of the Vancouver Sun newpaper... we later had a great week at EXPO..... the stories can go on and on...but I will leave with this Joe was REAL PEOPLE , no fake here, he enjoyed life and helped a lot of other poeple enjoy life and if it wasn't for him coming to White Rock back in the day, think how most of your lifes would be different. A sand sculpture tree would be somthing to see. How many peoples lifes touched, would lead back to joe....SO he's to Joe , the man who's favorate movie was FLASH GORDON, favorate drink was servied out of a 5 gal pail, favorate place was in the sand and bad habit was to always leave the party to dam early.
Maybe he's just gone ahead to set up the party....... until then. Quote form Joe 1984." WE CAME WE SAW WE KICKED ASS"

INSPIRATIONAL ARTIST AND FRIEND
I MET JOE THROUGHT MY BROTHER JOHN WHEN I WAS YOUNG IN CHULA VISTA. EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE IN AGE HE WAS WILLING TO GO OUT OF HIS WAY AND TALK TO ME AND SHOW ME WHAT A CLASSIC SOUL THAT HE WAS. HE WAS ALWAYS LOOKING TO DEVELOP NEW AND MEANINGFUL ART. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIS KINDNESS AND PASSION. HE WILL BE REMEBERED FOREVER BY THOSE THAT HE TOUCHED, AND I AM A BETTER PERSON FOR HAVING KNOWN HIM.
