INSPIRATION FROM A GREAT GUY

I met Joe, Rich Varano, Sandy Feet and many others @ harrison Hot springs in 1996. I came to learn sandsculpting from the masters. Joe was generous with his knowledge, has no airs, most times naughty and gives me the impression he just want to have fun. I'll miss him 'cos i learnt from him the humility of the art of sand sculpture and it's really about the audience, not your art piece. He is smiling somewhere up there doing 3 things : eat, sleep and creating another sand sculpture. I'll build one sandscultpure soon in memory of you. Have a great life ahead, whereever you are , Joe. bye bye. Alvin lee from singapore

What a terible loss to the whole world of sand sculpture. Joe was a legand in his own life time and I heard 20 funny stories about his antics before i even met him.
I will miss the soft pack king, but I know his spirit is close by. Love & Light to you joe, we will never forget you .

bye joe

my condolences to the family and friends, it must be very difficult to lose a beloved on such a "short notice".

Goodbye Joe

It was so much fun working and laughing with you! I still have a T-shirt you gave to me as a present. I hope your spirit will stay with us in the sand forever.

kids loved him too

One of the first times I met Joe I had my two small kids with me. Joe must spent spent 20 min. playing peekaboo, making funny faces, picking them up and entertaining them for what seemed like forever. I have seen him do this with many other children over the years. He could make them giggle in moments with his humourous escapades. You could tell he really enjoyed the little ones and had a knack for putting a smile on there faces.
Joe always had a little tip or suggestion for me and I always valued his opinion on many subjects. Thanks again Joe for all the smiles.
P.S. - Yah he snored , but all roomates do !!!

good memories

It's not easy when somebody goes away,
But there always will be the memory,
As there always will be sand.
